Privacy Policy

Our Commitment

EduQuest is built for children. We take privacy seriously — especially for our youngest users. We collect the absolute minimum data needed to provide the service, and we never sell or share personal information with third parties.

What We Collect

Parent Accounts

  • Email address (for login and account recovery)
  • Password (hashed, never stored in plain text)
  • Display name (optional)

Child Profiles

  • First name (chosen by parent)
  • Starting level (Explorer or Reader)
  • Game progress (levels completed, words learned)

Child profiles are anonymous sub-profiles under a parent account. We do not collect email addresses, birthdates, photos, or any other identifying information from children.

What We Do NOT Collect

  • No behavioural analytics on children
  • No location data
  • No device identifiers from children
  • No third-party tracking SDKs
  • No advertising identifiers

Advertising

The EduQuest games shown to children contain no third-party advertising and no advertising identifiers — this is a permanent commitment. We may promote EduQuest itself (our own games, blog posts, and updates) on this marketing website and across our own social channels. We may also, in future, place paid promotional ads for EduQuest on third-party platforms aimed at adults (parents, educators). We will not display third-party ads inside the games or to child profiles.

Third-Party Integrations

We use a small number of third-party APIs to publish our own marketing content (blog posts, screenshots, and announcements) to our own social media accounts — including Pinterest, Twitter, and Bluesky. These integrations are outbound only: we post content we have created to accounts we own.

We do not access user accounts, follower data, private messages, or any data belonging to other users of these platforms. We do not import social media data into the EduQuest games or display third-party social content to child profiles. No child or parent account information is ever sent to these third-party services.

Data Storage

All data is stored on servers within the European Union. We use industry-standard encryption for data in transit (TLS) and at rest.

Data Deletion

Parents can delete their account and all associated child profiles at any time from the Settings page. Upon deletion, all data is permanently removed within 30 days.

Children's Privacy (COPPA & GDPR-K)

EduQuest is designed to comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the EU General Data Protection Regulation as it applies to children (GDPR-K). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent.
